The Data & Ethics Working Group (DEWG) is a collaborative research team using art to explore public interaction with data access, exchange and retrieval systems, and the ethical implications of data ownership.

At any given moment DEWG may or may not consist of all four members of thickear (Geoff Howse, Jack James, Kevin Logan, Tadeo Sendon), Ulrich Atz, Elliott Burns, Susana Cámara Leret, Josep Perello, Mike Thompson and Dave Young.

DEWG was co-founded in November 2013 at the ICT&Art Connect event in Brussels resulting in the conception and performance of Experiment #1: Terms & Conditions at the European Parliament.

To date DEWG has launched three experimental projects creating collaborations with multiple academics, scientists and institutions including the artistic audio commentary (Experiment #3: Bridget) accompanying the exhibition Big Bang Data at Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona and Experiment #2: Consent at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
